As every year, Winchester Cathedral welcomed the Scouts to our St George's Day Parade after we had all marched up the Broadway where the Mayor, Cllr Russell Gordon-Smith, took the salute at the Guildhall. This year we were also joined by the Guides. The theme of the service was the teamwork of the Moon landings in 1969, because so many of those astronauts had been scouts themselves when young. The congregation was treated to a marvellous 'silver rocket' which ran all the way down the nave followed by many 'firecrackers'. They returned from the Moon with some 'cheese', which was presented to the Mayor. All this was splendidly arranged by 16th Winchester.
